Moving to Iceland
How can I register myself in Iceland?
If you want to work in Iceland or stay in Iceland for more than 6 months, you are required to register. Iceland's Directorate of Immigration provides a structured overview of the necessary steps: Directorate of Immigration (island.is).
We recommend that you start up any applications already before your departure.
Upon arrival in Iceland, you should go to the registration office of the Icelandic authorities or the nearest police station with your valid passport or identity card at hand. In addition, you must also be able to prove that you can meet the minimum living requirements. Keep in mind that the cost of living is generally high in Iceland.

There is no Belgian consulate in Iceland. Only an honorary consulate, which cannot assist you with administrative matters.
Therefore, although a passport is not compulsory, you cannot obtain a Belgian passport in Iceland. This can only be done in person in Oslo, in other consulates (Copenhagen, The Hague, London...) or in Belgium. It may therefore be useful to apply for a passport before your departure from Belgium.
